Schema Markup (Structured Data)

Definition

Schema markup is a standardized vocabulary of tags (from schema.org) that you add to your HTML to help search engines understand your content's meaning. Common types include Article, Product, FAQ, HowTo, and Organization. It is typically implemented as JSON-LD in the page head.

Why It Matters for SEO

Schema markup enables rich results (star ratings, FAQs, product prices, event dates) in Google search. Pages with rich results have higher CTR because the enhanced formatting makes them more visually prominent and informative.
